Spike in Coronavirus Cases in Doda

Doda, May 31: Doda recorded its highest ever spike in Coronavirus cases as nearly 21 new positive cases were recorded in the district, sources said.

14 samples of people already under administrative quarantine in Bhaderwah Quarantine centre returned positive late evening. 7 more samples belonging to truck drivers, four of whom belonged to Kishtwar and three from Doda also tested positive, sources said.

They added, “The truck drivers were sampled and allowed to proceed to Kishtwar as per protocol. After their sample turned positive, they were immediately traced and sent to isolation. Same is being done with the truck driver belonging to Doda.”

DC Doda Dr Sagar Doifode confirmed that at least 15 new positive Coronavirus cases were recorded in Doda late Sunday evening. However, most of the patients are said to be asymptomatic.

Till now, Doda District had the lowest number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir Union territory with five total cases, out of which four were active and one had recovered. With the surge in new cases, the total coronavirus cases in Doda District stand at 26, out of which 25 are active.
