Srinagar-Jammu Highway: Traffic Advisory For Tomorrow

SRINAGAR, Jan 17: Traffic department authorities on Sunday said that on Sunday subject to fair weather and better road condition only one-way traffic shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu including Banihal, Ramban (local traffic)  on Jammu-Srinagar highway.

The traffic department in an advisory said no vehicle shall be allowed in the opposite direction and TCU Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic.

“The weight-bearing capacity of installed bailey bridge is less than 40 metric ton,” reads the advisory.

“LMVs will have to cross Zig Qazigund from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and no Vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing,” it said.

“HMVs/load carriers shall be allowed upto 04:00 pm from Zig (Qazigund) towards Jammu,” it added.

“Government Forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of traffic congestion on Jammu-Srinagar NHW and narrowness of Bailey bridge. They may ply from Srinagar towards Jammu after confirming the status of highway,” reads the advisory. “On 22-1-2021 Friday, there shall be no traffic movement on Jammu-Srinagar NHW from either side in view of maintenance/repairing of the NHW,” it added.

The historic Mughal Road and SSG Road is closed due to snow accumulation, reads the advisory.

It said that Srinagar-Leh highway is closed by the J&K Government vide  Divisional Commissioner Kashmir’s order No. 400/2020 dated 30-12-2020 till further orders.

People have been advised not to travel on the highway without confirming the status of the road from phone numbers Jammu (0191-2459048, 9419147732), Srinagar (0194-2450022, 2485396,18001807091), Ramban (9419993745) and Udhampur (8491928625).
