Jammu, Dec 12: Jammu district administration is all set to issue notices under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act to drug peddlers and other involved individuals specifically to first probe sources of their moveable and immovable properties and then initiate attachment and seizure of their properties as warranted under various sections of the NDPS act.
According to an official handout, these directions were issued by District Magistrate Sachin Kumar Vaishya while chairing district-level committee meeting under Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD). He issued stern directives to Sub-Divisional Magistrates in an effort to intensify battle against drug trafficking in the region.
SSP Dr Vinod Kumar and Additional Deputy Commissioner (LO), Ansuya Jamwal besides SDMs and other concerned officers were present in the meeting. Highlighting the urgency of the situation, the DM urged SDMs to invoke the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. He instructed them to issue notices to accused individuals under the Act, specifically to probe into the sources of their moveable and immovable properties.
DM deliberated strategic measures for deterring individuals involved in drug trafficking. In addition, the DM stressed the need to identify drugs hotspots within the district. SDMs were instructed to conduct thorough assessments, pinpointing areas with concentrated drug-related activities. Emphasising a proactive stance, the DM urged SDMs to conduct regular meetings within their jurisdictions. “Consistent vigilance is crucial in our battle against narcotics.
