Jammu based Bhavishya Academy an Institute of Music and Dance, affiliated to Pracheen Kala Kendra Chandigarh had organized an event “Kala Darpan” at Convention centre here on November 12th Saturday.
Priya Sethi, former Minister of State for Culture, Education, Technical Education, Tourism, Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks was the chief guest and Guest of Honour was Gauri Diwakar an eminent personality in the field of kathak, disciple of Pt. Birju Maharaj, Pt. Jai Kishan Mahara and Smt. Aditi Mangaldas and recipient of the prestigious Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar.
The 2-hour event was being choreographed by Parul Bhateja (Director Bhavishya Academy), who is a disciple of Pt Jai Kishan Maharaj, son of Pt Birju Maharaj and Gauri Diwakar.
The event showcased performances of Kathak by young and dynamic performers that blends the seamless singing of classical music to promote a new take on the traditional Indian dance form.
The event was concluded with group performances of Kathak along with Indian classical vocal singing.
The classical art lovers, young dance performers and enthusiasts of Jammu loved and praised this unique event.
