Travelogue: J&K’s Silent Village- Dhadkai
This story is of Village Dhadkai in Doda District. After climbing atop a mountain, I reached a village which is full of specially-abled people. 82 people in the village can’t speak or hear. There’s no special school for them. They can’t earn their own livelihood. No government till date has done anything for them.
Did I mention Ex-CM Ghulam Nabi Azad hails from this area? This little friend of mine never smiles on camera. In fact, hates it. Because media comes, shows their faces trying to invoke pity of the administration. With their hearts full of hope, they wait. They’ve been waiting for more than two decades now.
