Yasin Malik produced before NIA court, quantum of punishment in terror funding case shortly

New Delhi: A Delhi court is set to pronounce the quantum of punishment for Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in a terror funding case.

On May 19, Special Judge Praveen Singh convicted Malik and directed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) authorities to assess Malik’s financial situation in order to determine the amount of fine that could be imposed on the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leader.

“We are seeking a deterrent form of punishment,” NIA Special Public Prosecutor tells Court.

Terrorist Yasin Malik was produced before a special NIA court in Delhi. The Special Public Prosecutor told the court that the probe agency is seeking ‘deterrent’ form of punishment in the case. Malik was convicted in a terror funding case on May 19.

The court had also framed charges against Farooq Ahmed Dar alias Bitta Karate, Shabbir Shah, Masarat Alam, Md Yusuf Shah, Aftab Ahmad Shah, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Khan, Md Akbar Khanday, Raja Mehrajuddin Kalwal, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Zahoor Ahmad Shah Watali, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Abdul Rashid Sheikh, and Naval Kishore Kapoor – ANI reported.
