Jammu, June 8: India registered a record single-day spike for the sixth consecutive day on Monday, with 9,983 new cases taking the country’s total coronavirus cases to 2,56,611, according to the Union Health Ministry.
India’s death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 7,135 with a record increase of 206 deaths in the last 24 hours till Monday 8 AM.
The number of active COVID-19 cases stands at 1,25,381, according to the Health Ministry. A total of 1,24,095 people have recovered and one patient has migrated, the Ministry said.
India is the fifth worst-affected nation in terms of coronavirus infection cases after the US, Brazil, Russia, and the UK, according to Johns Hopkins University data.
