Jammu, Dec 5: Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL), a special purpose vehicle for the Smart City project, has chalked out an ambitious project to restore the pristine glory of the old city’s heritage trail and to showcase Jammu’s historical and cultural landscape.
The heritage trail, being set up under the project ‘Heritage trail and site beautification’ will stretch 5.5 kilometre and will cost Rs 16.56 crore, officials said on Saturday.
To give final shape to the heritage trail being built in the old city to return the old glory of Jammu, the officials of Jammu Smart City Limited, various market associations, corporators of the Municipal Corporation, dignitaries from the area were present.
Deepika Gupta, Additional General Manager, Urban Planning Department, told the people present in the meeting that the main objective of the Heritage Rail being built in the old city of Jammu is to preserve the ancient history of Jammu. He said that Rs 16.56 crore would be spent under the Heritage Trail Jammu Smart City Project. In which the road infrastructure will be improved.
IT best parking, public bicycle sharing system, better roads, installation of decorative stones on some parts of the streets, street lights, and pillars with modern facilities will be done. Toilets will also be constructed in the markets. He said that after completing this project, the shopkeepers would benefit immensely. The meeting also informed that special street lights would be installed at Rani Park, Purani Mandi Park.
Apart from this, dustbins, benches for people to sit, water ATMs and in some parts power cables will also be done underground. The footpath will be decorated with the remaining red coloured stone. The people present in the meeting also gave their suggestions during this time.
Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation Chandra Mohan Gupta said that after the completion of this project, the people’s standard of living would also improve with the increase in business in Jammu city. People will be able to shop freely in the markets.
Additional CEO Hitesh Gupta incorporated the suggestions given by the people present in the meeting.
